Joe has been a student of massage and bodywork for over 30 years. Originally a pharmacist by profession, he became interested in alternative heath methods in the early 1980s. He initially became a Touch For Health Practitioner and then went on to attend and graduate from the Boulder School of Massage in 1984. From there, Joe joined the AMTA and became a Registered Massage Therapist and one of the first AMTA Sports Massage Therapists in the nation. Over the ensuing years, he studied such diverse techniques including: St. John Neuromuscular Therapy, Cranial Sacral Technique, Orthobionomy, and Myofascial Release. In 2000, Joe was privileged to be selected to attend the first internship in Muscle Activation Techniques and went on to become one of the first MAT Specialists in the nation. He then studied Z-Health techniques, becoming certified in the R,I, and T levels, and over the last 3-4 years, Joe has combined the philosophies underlying MAT and Z-Health into The Kistner Method.
