CONTINUING EDUCATION IN THE ROCKIES Aspen,Co

Thai Massage with Erica Boulangée
June 2 -6th

This course draws upon the deep roots of Asian medicine from Thailand to Japan, China and India. Integrating these regions philosophy will shed light to the medicinal approach to this work while learning to perform a Thai Massage. Encouraging Qi to flow harmoniously in the body is the bridge that unites them all. There are many ways to manipulate the Qi in the body according to various forms of Asian Medicine such as Shiatsu, Tuina, Amma, Jin Shin Do, and Thai Massage.

Thai Massage is becoming increasingly popular in the west especially to the athletic health conscious individual. It is among the fastest growing massage modalities in the U.S. which is why I have chosen this form to express a combined approach to healing the body, mind and spirit. A full session includes yoga-like stretching, acupressure, compression, energy meridian work and joint mobilization. Beneficial for those who find themselves stiff, sore, and tired from over-exertion in work or sports.

Thai Massage enhances strength and flexibility, relaxes sore or tense muscles, and can help to recapture lost range of motion. By encouraging lymphatic function, this traditional massage can also detoxify the body, heighten the immune system, and prevent disease and/or injury by promoting flexibility. Thai Massage is sometimes referred to as Oriental Sports massage or “Yoga for Lazy People”.

I often describe my sessions comparable to a time-released vitamin as your client continues to unwind days after a session. Clients continually report back to me how much it improved their spirit, their sport and their range of motion. Asian medicine sees each individual as unique, thereby creating tailored sessions for each client.

Enrolling in this course will encourage you to embark on a new paradigm of seeing and treating the body. Using your WHOLE body you create a rhythmic meditation between you and your client. Strangely enough after doing several sessions of Thai Massage in a row you will feel energized and clients will feel revitalized. You both benefit when you do Thai Massage.

In this intensive you will learn to perform a full two-hour Thai Massage which will include the supine, side-lying, prone and sitting portion of the routine.
Thai Massage is performed on cotton mats on the floor; participants wear loose comfortable clothing, and should have the ability to move around on their hands and knees.

We will begin everyday with Yoga, mindful movement and meditation. This workshop is open to everyone, not just massage therapists. The environment is both meditative and playful.

A Full Color manual is provided filled with detailed photographs on performing this work in addition to Chinese Medicine inserts and information you will most likely be referencing long after this course is over.
